RADARSAT-1 Data for Research Use (DRU)
DRU
The Canadian Space Agency and RADARSAT International (RSI), the
commercial
distributor of RADARSAT-1 data, provide access to RADARSAT-1 imagery for
research purposes at an affordable price. The RADARSAT Data for Research
Use
(DRU) Program invites all researchers to submit proposals for studies in
diverse fields: cartography, ice studies, hydrology, oceanography,
forestry,
mineral and oil exploration, and agriculture. There is no time
restriction
for submitting proposals for this is an ongoing program. The data
request
may be fulfilled by means of either a new acquisition or through the
RADARSAT-1 data archives. A maximum of five (5) images is allowed per
project. Proposals are evaluated from the standpoint of methodology,
scientific merit, data requirements, and promotional value. The DRU
Program
has provided many investigators with RADARSAT-1 images for a variety of
land
and sea applications. Details of this research initiative as well as the
procedure for proposal preparation and submission can be found in
"RADARSAT-1 Data for Research Use" (rsatres.pdf).
