Release Enhances Compatibility with Leading Application Servers
and Prepares for Web Services Support
JavaOneTM Developer Conference - San Francisco, CA - March 25, 2002 - ObjectFX Corporation,
provider of an innovative Java™-based location services software platform, today announced while
participating in its sixth consecutive JavaOneTM Developer Conference it is preparing to release Version 3.2
of SpatialFX™. Key elements of this product release include enhancements of map projection systems and
dynamic symbology specifically built to serve the defense/intelligence community and extended support of
and compliance with the J2EETM platform, important to both commercial and government customers.
"ObjectFX adopted Java technology when SpatialFX was being built in 1996. By continuing our focus on
Java standards like J2EE, ObjectFX delivers a platform that is easily integrated into enterprise-wide location
services applications," said George Flannery, ObjectFX Chief Technologist. "SpatialFX version 3.2 formally
supports the J2EE 1.3.1 Reference Implementation, along with BEA's WebLogic™, IBM's WebSphere™,
Oracle9iAS™ and HP-AS providing users with a broad choice of J2EE deployment environments. Our
J2EE focus also fosters the easy integration of emerging technologies like Web Services, which enables a
new level of interoperability between SpatialFX-based enterprise applications and several diverse
application development platforms that exist today."
The SpatialFX Platform is designed for the rapid implementation and simultaneous deployment of spatial
services on virtually any client, anywhere ? from desktop applications to the Web to wireless devices. The
ability to view and analyze data in location and spatial contexts is rapidly becoming an integral part of
information systems throughout all types of enterprises. Whether it's tracking vehicles in real time, analyzing
and reassigning corporate assets, managing troop deployments, or dispatching service technicians to
customer locations, all of these problems can be solved more efficiently if data and events can be seen
within the intuitive context of a map.
"ObjectFX was an early Java technology advocate and we applaud their efforts to continue to adjust
their location services platform to leverage more of the J2EE platform, strengthening their
commitment to EJB components, JavaBeans™ components, JSP™ technology and servlets," said
Ralph Galantine, Product Line Manager, J2EE, Sun Microsystems, Inc. "The value of location services
applications continues to gain significance. By building upon the J2EE platform, ObjectFX will
certainly simplify their support of Web Services, which is increasingly important to the enterprise
developer community they serve."
