Where: Charles River Public Internet Center, Waltham, MA
Cost: $225
The Local Demographic Analysis Workshop was designed for human service
providers, grant writers, researchers or anyone who would like to easily
look up and analyze basic demographic characteristics. The workshop will
focus on local demographic analysis of tracts and block groups within
Boston and Suffolk County. However, techniques presented in the workshop
are applicable to ANY other location.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This is a basic, hands on workshop designed to teach you how to access,
analyze, and present 1990/2000. Census data includes a wide spectrum of
data that may be useful to non-profits, grant writers and other social
researchers. The Census collects detailed data on race, income, age,
language, transportation, workforce and housing characteristics and many
other interesting social characteristics. The class will construct a
"community change profile" for Boston and tracts within Boston. We will
also briefly cover how to present data in an understandable way.
