ESRI Announces Recipients of the Final Phase of ESRI’s Homeland Security Grant Series;
Awards of Software, Data, and Training Help Ensure Community Safety

Redlands, California—ESRI, the world leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, announced the second and final distribution of its homeland security grants. These grants are designed to foster and support the integration of GIS technology within government organizations throughout the United States.
“The timing is right for these grants,” says Christopher Thomas, ESRI state and local government industry manager. “Governments recognize that they must move quickly to ensure the safety of the communities they serve. The grant program is simply an extension of the work and educational efforts ESRI has engaged in since September 11, 2001.”

The overall quality of applications for the ESRI Homeland Security Grant Series, together with the obvious need for GIS software expressed by the applicants, prompted ESRI to expand upon the original program to include a third type of award.
