MapText, Inc. announced that it is shipping Version 3.0 of its high-performance automated text placement software, Label-EZ(TM) as well as the companion software Label-Edit(TM). The new version is easier to use, interfaces with a greater number of GIS systems, and contains numerous significant productivity enhancements.
All control files can now be created via simple wizard-like auxiliary programs, which also provide extensive error checking, increasing reliability and reducing the learning curve for new users. The quality of text placement for area and line features has been improved, with a much enriched choice of placement options for conditions where initial placement choices cannot be realized.
Label-EZ(TM) is the premier software system for automating the costly process of name placement for maps and charts. As a productivity tool, it accomplishes in seconds or perhaps a minute or two what would take a cartographer days or weeks to do manually, resulting in enormous productivity gains. The software is highly configurable and will place text automatically for city-street maps, highway maps, parcel maps, route-delivery maps, cadastral maps, environmental-protection maps, census maps, insurance maps, nautical charts, and aeronautical charts of any scale and projection. Text is placed in a conflict-free manner, without ambiguity, and in conformance with user-modifiable cartographic standards and conventions. It works seamlessly with all popular GIS systems.
MapText, Inc. is located in Plainsboro, NJ and provides cartographic text-placement software and services to government and industry world-wide. Among its users are the US Census Bureau, NIMA, numerous state, county and municipal agencies, mapping companies, and commercial organizations requiring maps for business purposes.
