Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Golder Associates is pleased to announce that Calgary-based GAIA Consultants Inc. has joined the Golder group of companies. This merger enhances Golder's presence as a leading provider of geospatial solutions, and reinforces its leadership position within the GIS industry in Western Canada.

The addition of GAIA Consultants Inc. to the GeoGraphic Information Services (GGIS) group of Golder Associates in Calgary elevates the group to forty four full-time employees. The group provides consulting and general services involving Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, Computer Assisted Drafting/Design (CAD), Internet GIS as well as application and Database Management System (DBMS) development.

"It's a natural fit". says Robert van Wyngaarden, Associate & GGIS Group Director at Golder. "Golder and GAIA are prominent, long-standing members of the Alberta GIS industry, and we have both earned our stripes with high quality, innovative solutions to tough challenges. Our clients will reap the benefits of this merger through new and expanded services in GIS and Information Management".

"It is a very positive move". says Jim Bowen, President, GAIA Consultants. "Our existing clients win with more staff and resources being available, which translates into more responsiveness and greater efficiency. Our employees win by joining an exciting growth-oriented company with a greater range of personal development and career options". Jim Bowen has been appointed as an Associate at Golder, and will take an active role as a senior member of the Golder GGIS management team, focusing on client development and operations.
