Job Tracking for ArcGIS (JTX) Now Available; Workflow Management Tools Improve Efficiency in Enterprise GIS Projects

Redlands, California—ESRI, the worldwide leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, is pleased to announce that Job Tracking for ArcGIS (JTX) is now shipping. Job Tracking for ArcGIS is a solution-based extension to ArcGIS that provides an integration framework for ArcGIS multiuser geodatabase environments. This enterprise workflow management application simplifies and automates many aspects of job management and tracking and streamlines the workflow, resulting in improved efficiency and significant time saving for any enterprise GIS project (e.g., data maintenance and commercial mapping).

Developed by the Implementation Services team within the ESRI Professional Services Division, Job Tracking for ArcGIS is already successfully installed in government agencies and large utility companies. It provides tools for allocating resources and tracking the status and progress of jobs. A detailed history of job actions is automatically recorded for each job to give managers a play-by-play account of how the job was completed. This information can be supplemented with comments and notes to provide even richer job documentation.

Job Tracking for ArcGIS handles complex geodatabase tasks behind the scenes by creating and managing versions. A comprehensive transaction management infrastructure is provided to support historical tracking of feature edits and metadata. Additionally, developers can use the JTX integration points and application program interface (API) to leverage existing or off-the-shelf solutions and develop a custom user interface for performing all job tracking tasks.

Key features of Job Tracking for ArcGIS include
  • Workflow management for more efficient execution of job tasks
  • Version management for simultaneous editing
  • Job tracking for problem identification and better decision making
  • History tracking and change detection for better quality control
  • Feature-level metadata for improved documentation
  • Transactional updates for the generation and transmission of all editing transactions in a platform-independent, nonproprietary data format

Job Tracking for ArcGIS requires ArcSDE in addition to ArcInfo or ArcEditor. For more information, visit www.esri.com/jobtracking or call ESRI at 1-800-447-9778, or call your ESRI regional office. Outside the United States, contact your local ESRI distributor; see www.esri.com/international for a current distributor list.
