Ordnance Survey and Laser Scan host free location data seminar for transport
sector
Cambridge, UK, 15th April 2003. National mapping agency, Ordnance Survey,
is working in conjunction with geospatial data experts, Laser-Scan, to host
a free seminar for transport industry professionals and system integrators
and independent consultants working in the transport sector.
The half-day event reveals how detailed location data can be used to
research, plan, route and deliver goods and services right to the doorstep -
safely evading common disruptions to the supply chain such as congestion,
prohibitive fuel costs and security problems. Experts from both Ordnance
Survey and Laser-Scan will be on hand to explain how transport professionals
can improve services and efficiency, and enhance the end user experience, by
putting geographic data at the centre of their operations.
Vertical Marketing Manager for transport at Ordnance Survey, Andy Embling,
said:
"By integrating information about their business environment with location
based data, transport industry professionals become able to predict and
realise very precise supply chains and operational patterns. This seminar
will explain how this geographic intelligence can help transport
organisations cut costs and increase efficiency."
Using a series of presentations and demonstrations, this event will offer
insights into the applications and advantages of location data and will help
businesses to develop interoperable solutions, build on existing investments
and maintain the quality and accuracy of their data. There will also be
opportunities for one-to-one breakout sessions with expert advisers to
explain the benefits and applications of location based data for individual
businesses.
Steven Ramage, Business Development Director at Laser-Scan, said:
" Laser-Scan has significant experience in dealing with geospatial
databases and enterprise wide data management. Working in partnership with
the Ordnance Survey, we aim to help organisations within the transport
sector maximise their existing investments."
The seminar will take place on Friday 16th May at the Ordnance Survey
Business Centre in Southampton, UK.
