SANZ’s EarthWhere™ Receives High Ratings in the NIMA Pathfinder Program for AILT
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Castle Rock, CO., December 2, 2003 – (OTCBB: SANZ) SANZ EarthWhere Spatial Data Provisioning software ranked in the top five tools of the National Imagery and Mapping Agency’s (NIMA) Airborne Information Library Tools (AILT) Pathfinder assessment program. The assessment program was initiated in February 2003, and included tools from over 300 software vendors. Its focus was on software tools to assist in the storage and management of airborne imagery, a topic of broad interest for NIMA’s stakeholders in support of national security.

Twenty organizations participated in the evaluation including; five NIMA offices, the US Army’s Topographic Engineering Center and Intelligence Center and School (USAICS); eight US Air Force organizations including the 13th and 30th Intelligence Squadrons; four US Navy organizations including the Office of Naval Intelligence; U.S. Marine Corps System Command and Intelligence Association. Subject matter experts from these organizations evaluated EarthWhere on more than 200 criteria. Of the 300 vendors, 14 finalists were selected for hands-on technical evaluations. EarthWhere achieved particularly high ratings in data management services and in Human-Computer Interaction (ease of use) categories.

“EarthWhere was developed to allow end users without extensive spatial data skills to quickly provision spatial datasets to meet their real-time mission objectives” said Mark Hardy, SANZ’s Vice President of Geospatial Solutions. “The formal Pathfinder assessment process provided validation of EarthWhere’s applicability for military end users.” Hardy added, “To date, we have made very good progress on the Civilian agency side of the Federal Government. Our success in this program takes us into the Department of Defense where any user can now purchase our product without any additional qualification process. We expect to capitalize rapidly on this opportunity.”

EarthWhere allows end users to rapidly provision custom geospatial data sets to their desktop. The easy to use web based user interface provides an expert system for combining spatial data to meet the specific requirements of each end user without the need for specialized remote sensing skills. EarthWhere supports a wide variety of imagery formats aggregated from distributed sources to deliver mission-specific datasets to the needs of each end user.

Pathfinder evaluations provide a critical link between commercial/government technology developers and imagery/geospatial data users. The process identifies and assesses tools and technologies to support NIMA’s mission to provide relevant/timely imagery, imagery intelligence and geospatial products/services to consumers. The pathfinder process is acquisition compliant, which allows members of the US military and intelligence community to utilize the results of the Pathfinder for subsequent purchases of technology.
