Europa Technologies announces immediate shipping of its digital world map Global Insight, version 3.0. The new release includes a number of updates and enhancements that extend across the global product family: Global Discovery, Global Insight Plus and Global Insight. Enhancements include:

• Updated political map
• Increase to over 532,000 named places
• Population estimates for over 48,000 places
• Country & ocean names in French, German, Italian, Spanish & Dutch
• Time Zone updates now with Daylight Saving (DST) information
• 1st level administrative areas for Japan, South Korea & Afghanistan
• 2nd level administrative areas for USA (counties) and Puerto Rico
• Flag graphics at two resolutions

Global Insight is the leading world map and gazetteer featuring up-to-date political mapping (1:1M & 1:3M scale, with quarterly updates) and over 532,000 named places. Place names are spelled in local and alternative form (English conventional, second national language, foreign language and long/short) and include accented characters. The extensive gazetteer provides superior hit rates when searching or global geocoding by place name.

A major enhancement in the new version of Global Insight is the addition of Daylight Saving Time (DST) to the Time Zone layer. This details the exact period when DST is observed (if at all) and allows precise time differences between locations to be calculated. The Time Zone (with DST) map layer is available separately.

Global Insight Plus builds on the strength of Global Insight to form the premier digital reference map of the world. The product consists of all Global Insight layers plus roads, railways/railroads, airports (including IATA code), ports (including UN/LOCODE) and drainage features.
