Bentley Acquires Department of Transportation Division of TransDecisions, Inc. -- Addition of
Linear Referencing System Expands Company's Linear Data Management Solution for
Transportation Industry
EXTON, Pa., Jan 7, 2003 - Bentley Systems, Incorporated today announced that it has completed the acquisition of the
Department of Transportation Division of TransDecisions, Inc., including the Linear Referencing System Extensions (LRSx(TM)) software.
The associated TransDecisions employees have also joined Bentley in conjunction with this acquisition.
"We are pleased to welcome the former TransDecisions team members to Bentley's transportation family," says Carey Mann, vice president,
Industry and Product Marketing, Bentley. "Together we will continue to improve the quality of solutions for LRSx users, who now also benefit from
Bentley's integrated civil, geospatial, and operational applications that together form the most comprehensive solution available for road, rail and
transit authorities."
LRSx is an integrated set of functions and procedures that facilitate the management of linearly referenced spatial data used for transportation
operations and management.
"LRSx is a mature, stable environment for centralized linear referencing and Bentley has a vast portfolio of software and user-driven applications
with proven success," said Kirk Divine, who was vice president of Professional Services for TransDecisions. "Bringing LRSx into the Bentley fold
represents a tremendous opportunity for our users, who can now draw from the most diverse solution suite in the transportation management
industry and benefit from Bentley's unparalleled service and support. I am extremely proud to be a part of Bentley." Divine has joined Bentley as
Director, Transportation Management Solutions.
LRSx is a cost effective solution that enables transportation organizations to store, reference, manage and analyze linear data inside an Oracle(R)
database. This capability preserves access to the full power of this high-performance database for data processing and reporting on millions of
records.
Users are able to take full advantage of the security, recovery, reliability, scalability and performance features afforded by the Oracle8i database.
They can utilize any of the standard data access tools compatible with Oracle and provide results to GIS systems such as those offered by ESRI.
Bentley employs a structured, proven methodology for implementation and automation of transportation operations and management solutions,
providing U.S. state DOTs with a no-risk implementation strategy that ensures project success.
Bentley Transportation Operations and Management solutions are now in place in 16 states: California, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa,
Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
Bentley's software for design and engineering of transportation infrastructure is the choice of many U.S. state departments of transportation, the
