  • TracerNET Corporation and Southern LINC Align to Offer Real-Time Location and Status Information for Mobile Fleets

ATLANTA & CHANTILLY, Va., Jan 7, 2003 - TracerNET Corporation, a leading provider of automated location-based mobile solutions, and Southern LINC, the wireless communications service from Southern Company (NYSE: SO), today announced the availability of a joint solution that allows organizations operating mobile fleets to receive automatic status and vehicle location information over Southern LINC's iDEN wireless data network. This solution enables improved efficiency and productivity.

TracerNET's TracerFleet and TracerWeb offerings use GPS, sensors and a proprietary design to determine a vehicle's location and the job status, without the need for driver input. This information is then delivered in real-time over Southern LINC's wireless data network to either a web-based or a client/server application. The TracerFleet software collects the information from the vehicle's sensors and GPS receiver and can then integrate it directly into their payroll, order processing, dispatching, customer service, and maintenance software systems. This solution improves customer service as well as operational performance.

"Our complementary solutions provide automated real-time access to delivery status and fleet information. TracerNET's solutions enable this information to be directly integrated with back office systems, such as dispatching, payroll and ERP systems," said Rick Beyer, president and CEO of TracerNET Corporation. "Our collective mission is to enable our clients to realize increased productivity and better customer service with the use of automated and integrated location-based technologies and wireless communications."

"This powerful combination provides our customers with an innovative service that will improve efficiency and productivity," said Bob Dawson, president and CEO of Southern LINC. "TracerNET's automated tracking device combined with Southern LINC's extensive coverage provides a reliable solution for businesses that need to stay regularly connected to their employees and vehicles in the field."

Information about TracerNET's fleet management solution and Southern LINC's wireless data solutions is available at www.tracernet.com or www.southernlinc.com.
