New Natural Gas Pipeline Map by NGI Shows Latest Proposed LNG Terminals, Market Point Locations
DULLES, Va.--July 1, 2003--The natural gas industry is undergoing dramatic changes due to record high prices, a market in flux, rapid development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminals across the country and continuing pipeline development. To track these changes, Natural Gas Intelligence has just released an updated version of its widely used natural gas pipeline map, showing the locations of all the major existing and proposed natural gas pipelines, LNG terminals, and the most liquid wholesale gas market points.
NGI's full-color map identifies the five LNG terminals operating in North America, including Eco Electrica's terminal in Guayanilla Bay, Puerto Rico, and the 20 proposed new terminals aimed at providing a desperately needed inflow of gas supply. This includes four proposed terminals in Baja California Norte, Mexico, three in the Bahamas, four along the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana and one offshore Louisiana, three on the coast of California and four more along the Atlantic coastline.
In addition to existing pipelines, the 19 1/2-inch by 24-inch wall map also lists 17 proposed natural gas pipeline projects, more than 100 natural gas market locations, and the major natural gas producing basins in the United States. This latest map version was compiled by the experienced editorial staff of NGI, which has been reporting on the natural gas market for over 20 years, under the direction of Managing Editor Rocco Canonica.
As the natural gas market moves through the current critical period, taking on new dimensions, it is vital to keep up with the new developing areas. This latest update of NGI's Major North American Natural Gas Pipelines map pinpoints the locations of existing and proposed natural gas pipelines, LNG and market infrastructure across the continent. This information is critical for gaining a basic understanding of how the gas market works, where the natural gas is produced and flows, where natural gas is traded at the wholesale level, and where it will be imported in increasing amounts in the coming years.
"For those who are active -- or planning to be active -- in the gas market, those doing market research, or with a regulatory oversight role focused on the gas industry, NGI's Major North American Natural Gas Pipelines map is an essential tool," said Ellen Beswick, president of Intelligence Press Inc., the publisher of NGI's daily, weekly and real-time natural gas and power publications.
