Syncline Introduces MapCiti(TM) Homeland Security Viewer for Local Government

Boston, MA (July 8, 2003). Syncline®, Inc., today announced that it has extended its MapCiti™ Suite of eGovernment applications to include its Homeland Security Viewer. The company developed its new MapCiti Viewer in response to customer requests for assistance with the implementation of homeland security measures at the local government level. the trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective holders.

The MapCiti Homeland Security Viewer is ideal for informing and preparing the public. For example, in the event of a small pox outbreak, the Viewer helps citizens find the location of nearby vaccination centers. Should a major catastrophe occur, it can be used to highlight emergency shelters or show the location of hospitals and secondary overflow medical facilities. Residents can produce hard copies of threat response information that is relevant to them and keep it nearby, to be accessed in the event of an emergency. the trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective holders.

The Homeland Security Viewer also can be used for internal planning purposes. City officials have access to a secure interactive map of the city's critical infrastructure to help them plan for different scenarios. This information can be shared easily and securely across departments. The Viewer's abutment notification tool generates a list of parcels that are located within a specified radius of a potential terrorist target. Safety officials can produce detailed contact lists of citizens living nearby. the trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective holders.

During and after an incident, the Homeland Security Viewer acts as a vital tool for securely sharing information with State and Federal agencies. Key knowledge about the city's critical infrastructure, hospitals, or local schools, with student population, required by agencies such as FEMA, the FBI, or perhaps the Governor's office can be made available with secure, encrypted access. The Viewer also can be used to inform the public during and after an emergency, such as highlighting danger areas in the event of a bio-terrorism attack, or showing evacuation routes, emergency shelters, etc. the trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective holders.

“Since 9/11, fundamental changes have taken place in our country. Best practices for information sharing, planning, and management in times of crisis are now critical. However, city and county managers struggle to support unfunded mandates and new security responsibilities in the face of declining revenues and reduced state subsidies.” said Marc Tremblay, President and CEO of Syncline. “Our Homeland Security Viewer was designed with these constraints in mind, providing an affordable yet effective solution,” added Dr. Tremblay. the trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective holders.
