IDELIX Software Inc. Releases Version 3.0 of the PDT Software
Development Kit
-The award-winning SDK opens integration options with COM & .NET
compatibility-
ESRI USER CONFERENCE - SAN DIEGO, CA July 7, 2003 - IDELIX Software
Inc. is
pleased to announce the version 3.0 release of the award-winning
Pliable Display
Technology (PDT) Software Development Kit which features a host of
simplified
integration options for OEMs and Systems Integrators. Version 3.0 will
be ready
for distribution July 22 and will add to the growing market traction
IDELIX is
experiencing with the PDT SDK.
"PDT represents the future of visualization and in-place user interface
design
within markets such as Defense, GIS, Photogrammetry and CAD, where the
continuity of graphical information within context is critical,"
commented Bijan
Sanii, President and CEO of IDELIX. "Version 3.0 of the PDT SDK is all
about
making it simple for our developer partners to integrate PDT and to
offer their
end customers a way to optimize their various data manipulation and
viewing
tasks."
PDT is an information visualization technology that facilitates
"detail-in-
context" viewing and data manipulation in 2D and 3D data sets. Awarded
by
Advanced Imaging Magazine as "Imaging Solution of the Year" and
recognized by
Cadalyst Magazine in their annual Wow! Awards, PDT is a virtual lens
that
increases the value of existing tools within host applications by
optimizing how
you display and interact with high density and multi-layered data.
The PDT SDK is platform and data format independent, and written in
ANSI C++.
PDT can be integrated on platforms such as Linux, IRIX, Windows,
Windows CE and
Mac OS-X. The PDT SDK 3.0 expands on 2.0 with the addition of .NET and
Component Object Model (COM) wrappers. A new vector painting system has
also
been added to ease the integration of PDT into vector drawing
applications. Both
OpenGL and non-Open GL rendering solutions are currently available
within the
PDT SDK, with additional classes for DirectX rendering also included in
version
3.0. A Fast Warp renderer component is now included for extremely
optimized PDT
lens use in memory and CPU constrained applications such as handhelds.
A
complete list of components included in v3.0 of the PDT SDK can be
found at:

"The addition of COM interfaces enables developers to re-use existing
components
and perform component based development that is COM-based. With the
connecting
COM interfaces, application developers can program against PDT using
any
language on the Windows platform that supports COM, including Visual
Basic, C#,
JavaScript, Delphi, and Perl for Windows. With the addition of .NET
compatibility to our SDK, IDELIX is addressing the increasing
importance of
Internet-based applications by extending PDT functionality to systems
integrators and developers who create distributed applications for the
Internet
on the Windows platform," says Dr. David Baar, CTO of IDELIX.
Dr. David Baar will be presenting PDT and talking about the "Progress
and
Challenges in Integrating Pliable Display Technology (PDT) by IDELIX
into
ArcMap" at the ESRI User Conference on Thursday, July 10th at 2:15-2:45
pm -
Room 29-D (San Diego Convention Center).
About IDELIX
IDELIX Software Inc. is changing the status quo of digital data and
image
presentation through innovations in visualization. A leader in 2D and
3D
graphics technology, IDELIX has developed a patents-pending geometry
engine
called Pliable Display Technology (PDT). PDT is a virtual lens
technology that
can be integrated into leading software applications to create a more
efficient
workflow process. PDT's real time "detail-in-context" functionality
makes tasks
such as image management, viewing, editing and presentation easier for
users
working within the spatial limitations of a display screen. Major
opportunities
for PDT exist in markets where visualization software plays a large
role such as
Defense, GIS and Remote Sensing, CAD/CAM/CAE, Handheld/Wireless, and
Oil and Gas
Exploration and Production.
