Redlands, California-ESRI, the leader in geographic information system (GIS)
technology, announced today that ArcWeb for Developers now includes National
Geographic Society (NG) TOPO! 1:24,000- and 1:100,000-scale maps for the
United States. These are the most detailed maps available for outdoor
enthusiasts, hobbyists, and professionals. Subscribers to ArcWeb for
Developers can access NG TOPO! maps as raster images in JPEG, GIF, PNG, or
PNG8 format and include them in their Web applications.
ArcWeb for Developers is a suite of GIS Web services that ESRI offers to
developers and is part of ESRI's family of ArcWeb Services. With ArcWeb for
Developers, developers can include GIS content and capabilities in their
applications without hosting the data or developing any GIS applications
themselves, resulting in significant savings of development time, expense,
and computer resources. ArcWeb for Developers uses XML-based Simple Object
Access Protocol (SOAP) to communicate, making it compatible with the
majority of Web service frameworks available today.
ArcWeb for Developers enables users to
- Access dynamic maps of streets, topography, census
demographics, shaded relief imagery, and more.
- Determine the locations of street addresses.
- Generate routes and multilingual driving directions between
multiple locations.
- Provide place finder capabilities.
- Perform census demographics mapping and reporting.
- Specify projections.
- Upload user-defined points of interest for geocoding. ESRI
hosts this data for you, so you do not have to host it yourself.
- And more.
