Preeminent GIS Event selects DMTI Spatial™ Four Times to Present

Markham, ON – June 26, 2003 – ESRI has selected DMTI Spatial to provide four presentations to address some of its key focal points at the upcoming San Diego International and Educational User Conference, themed “GIS-Serving our World.” With strong emphasis on Web-based mapping, GIS and address management integration and GIS education, DMTI Spatial is in a particularly strong position to serve conference attendees with its expertise, insight and experience in providing really smart spatial solutions to a varied client base.

“We are extremely pleased to have such a strong presence at the largest GIS show in the world,” said John Fisher, DMTI Spatial’s president and CEO. “By selecting our company executives and managers to present four different slices of the GIS world, ESRI has given us a flattering validation of our efforts and the platform to educate by experience. We appreciate the opportunity.”

Don DeGenova, DMTI Spatial’s Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Alliances, will begin the company’s round of presentations on Tues. July 8th at the Educational User Conference with his paper, “Partnering with Academia: It was the “SMART” Thing to do”. A half-hour presentation beginning at 10:30 AM, DeGenova will detail DMTI Spatial’s heavy involvement in bringing affordable mapping to academia. In particular, he will highlight the company’s flagship GIS education program, “Spatial Mapping Academic Research Tools” (SMART). A wildly successful program, SMART has given over 40 participating Canadian universities and colleges access to more than 11 DMTI Spatial products, including CanMap® Streetfiles and CanMap RouteLogistics.

Tackling one of the niche areas of DMTI Spatial’s business will be Anne Skinner, Associate Director of Sales, who will discuss the integration of geospatial and address management technology into the enterprise. Presenting at 10:30 AM on Tues. July 8th at the International User Conference, Skinner will highlight both the importance of collecting and maintaining accurate customer data and of using GIS technology to leverage that critical business asset across the enterprise.

On Wed. July 9th, John Fisher expands on Skinner’s address management theme, presenting “Point-Based Addressing: the Next Evolution of Geospatial Data”. A half-hour session beginning at 11:30 AM, Fisher details the pros and cons of point-based addressed management, including the many ways this sophisticated dataset extends the reach of GIS into modern day business.

Finally, at 2:15 PM on Thurs. July 10th, Chris Thomas, DMTI Spatial’s Manager of Strategic Initiatives, presents a highly successful and unique Web-based mapping case study featuring the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC). Thomas will discuss how DMTI Spatial digitized over 49,000 km of snowmobile trails and integrated them in a Web-based Tourism Web Site built and hosted by DMTI Spatial on behalf of the OFSC.
