BAE SYSTEMS Begins Worldwide Distribution of SOCET SET

SAN DIEGO--June 25, 2003--BAE SYSTEMS has initiated worldwide distribution of SOCET SET(R), its premier photogrammetric software for digital mapping, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and three dimensional (3D) visualization or simulation applications. "With the investment by BAE SYSTEMS into this new distribution channel, our customers will receive better support and training worldwide," said Dan London, vice president, Sales and Marketing. "And, by having more direct contact with us, they will have greater input into future product direction."

BAE SYSTEMS opened two new international offices June 19 to provide support for international customers. The Cambridge, U.K. office will be responsible for all SOCET SET sales and support in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The Canberra, Australia office will have the same responsibility for Asia and the Pacific Rim countries.

"We now have highly experienced and professional teams to provide a solid sales and support base for BAE SYSTEMS SOCET SET and VITec(R) software in the two regions," stated Kevin Malone, general manager of BAE SYSTEMS TALISIN(R) line of business. "Led by John Allan at Cambridge and Robert Coorey at Canberra, the two teams have a successful history of working with high quality geospatial software and extensive backgrounds in the field of digital mapping, imagery analysis, and GIS."

The two new offices will be responsible for managing the transition of SOCET SET sales and support operations from Leica Geosystems to BAE SYSTEMS, a key component of which will be the setting up of new support and sales channels for all the countries within their regions. The Cambridge and Canberra operations will compliment the four existing U.S. offices to provide global support and sales for all of BAE SYSTEMS SOCET SET and VITec customers.

BAE SYSTEMS has been responsible for the development of SOCET SET since its inception in 1990. The company focused its direct sales and support on government organizations, primarily in the U.S., U.K. and Australia. Leica Geosystems (formerly LH Systems) was authorized to distribute SOCET SET into the worldwide commercial (non-Government) market. Now, BAE SYSTEMS and select partners will distribute and support SOCET SET on a worldwide basis to all customers. The company's goal is to assist its customers, the people who have made SOCET SET the world's premier digital photogrammetric software application, to be more successful in the future.
