City of Huntsville Deploys Synergen Series; City-wide Asset Management Optimization Initiative Underway

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--May 13, 2003--Synergen, Inc. (www.synergen.com) a leading provider of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) solutions, today announced that the City of Huntsville, Texas has chosen the Synergen Series(TM) as their asset management solution of choice to optimize asset management and streamline purchasing city-wide.

The City of Huntsville, the seat of Walker County, covers a service area of 281 square miles. An ongoing challenge had been an inefficient approach to asset management without the benefit of a centralized database or the ability to easily track costs and expenditures. The Synergen Series will be deployed city-wide, initially installed at the city's water and wastewater treatment plants to monitor collection and distribution systems, taking full advantage of Synergen's powerful integrated GIS capabilities. Other capital assets to be managed by the Synergen Series include all city streets, parks, solid waste services and related assets and the city's vehicle fleet, including police cars, fire engines and maintenance trucks, using Synergen's specialized Fleet Asset module.

"After a thorough evaluation of 25 companies, we were very impressed with Synergen's professionalism and their understanding of the distinct requirements of both plant-oriented and distributed linear assets," said Bill Daugette, project manager for the City of Huntsville. "Equally crucial for us was Synergen's unparalleled adeptness in supporting GASB 34 requirements, an aspect of public sector financial reporting that most vendors haven't yet grasped."

Synergen's Web-architected CMMS/EAM software suite, The Synergen Series(TM), addresses all aspects of MRO including: collaborative work management, asset reliability and maintenance; inventory control, purchasing, and contract management; operational accounting; reporting and analysis; project tracking; safety and regulatory compliance; and document control. Supported by the latest in Internet technology, users need only a standard Web browser to rapidly install, deploy and access Synergen solutions across the enterprise.

About Synergen

Synergen, Inc. has built an industry-wide reputation for excellence with the Synergen Series(TM), recently being named 2003 MRO Gold Product of the Year by Plant Services magazine -- the only EAM/CMMS vendor to be recognized with this prestigious award for two consecutive years. Established in 1986, Synergen has major installations in capital-intensive industries such as process and discrete manufacturing, energy, chemicals, mining and metals, food processing, pulp and paper, as well as non-manufacturing industries, such as transportation, health care, education, aerospace/defense, government agencies, utilities, water services, municipalities and those organizations faced with fleet and facility management challenges.
