April 5, 2004 / KOREM Inc., leader in the development and the integration of Web-mapping technology, today announces the release of Push’n’See v. 4.7 for MapXtreme Java Edition. KOREM’s flagship product has been significantly enhanced with new capabilities, advanced features and now offers two extensions for additional GIS and analysis functionalities.
Besides providing an intuitive and flexible user interface to publish, design and deploy applications Push’n’See is open enough to let you get the most of the current and state-of-the-art IT standards. “Push’n’See is all about J2EE, SQL, HTML, Javascript, XML, CSS, … developers and integrators feel at ease with those notions largely in use in the IT industry. We don’t invent, impose or replace any IT standards; our technology covers the geospatial component and integrates with the rest of the customer business logic”, says Luc Vaillancourt, VP Business development at KOREM.
This new version of Push’n’See is pushing further the democratization of Web mapping development. The Management Console was improved with additional functions giving the system administrator and the project author a better control and more flexibility over Web-mapping projects. Among the numerous improvements:
• Compatible with MapXtreme 4.7 Java Edition;
• The possibility for end-users to save their current sessions for further use and/or to share with other users;
• The search function has been enhanced allowing the users to specify in which table and field the search must be performed;
• Two new log report sections were created in the system module providing the project author with accurate information about map hits and used disk space;
• A new security feature allows the author to require from the client-side users to authenticate before consulting the map and to modify their passwords on a regular basis.
With the release of this version, KOREM introduces two extensions adding further GIS and analysis functionalities to the solution. The GeoSTAT Extension provides end-users with powerful analysis tools enabling them to perform thematic analysis and to publish and geocode/bind descriptive data. The WMS Extension brings the solution one-step further, making it possible for Push’n’See on-line applications to display WMS content (WMS client) but also to serve (WMS server) its own projects to any other WMS client.
These new 4.7 features reinforce the uniqueness of Push’n’See as a Rapid Application Development tool for MapXtreme Java Edition. Push’n’See enables authors to design and deploy applications anywhere on the Web sharing content prepared in MapInfo Professional or directly in the Push’n’See management console. The system administrator and the project author both have access to a powerful Management Console consisting in three main modules:
• Project Module: creation and management of four aspects of a Web-mapping application: content, design, sessions and deployment;
• Geobase Module: centralization and sharing of MapInfo and .shp files, database connexions (e.g. Oracle9i, SpatialWare);
• System Module: definition and management of users, user groups, database connections, application’s basic settings and logs reports.
Web-mapping applications generated by Push’n’See provide end-users with a complete series of functions adapted to their specific needs and context of use. These applications, whether they are to be deployed on the Internet, Extranet or Intranet, enable end-users to carry out numerous tasks related to cartographic navigation, geographical search and positioning, real time database querying and consultation and thematic mapping and analysis.
