MUSTANG ENGINEERING HONORED WITH BEST PRACTICES AWARD
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

CASTLE ROCK, CO. April 7, 2004 – SANZ (OTCBB: SANZ) and NuView, Inc.® of Houston, TX announced that their mutual customer Mustang Engineering received the “Best Practices in Storage” award in the Data Lifecycle Management category from IDG's Computerworld and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). The Data Lifecycle Management award exemplifies solutions and processes that manage information over its lifecycle. Mustang Engineering, a member of the multinational Wood Group PLC (LSE: WG), is an independent services provider to the domestic and international oil, gas and chemical industries.

Mustang Engineering wanted to move non-critical data off their primary storage, a high-performance NetApp® Filer cluster, to cheaper storage. When Mustang approached SANZ with their need to automate the management of inactive data, SANZ’s recommendation was NuView’s File Lifecycle Manager™ (FLM), a policy-based data management solution that manages the lifecycle of file data on Network Appliance™ (NASDAQ: NTAP) storage systems. FLM allows administrators to analyze, classify, block, move, organize and delete file data using policies that reflect business objectives.

"We were running out of capacity on our primary NetApp Filers and yet we knew that over 40% of the files were not accessed in over a year,” said Gene Atteberry, Mustang Engineering’s Manager of Information Systems. “We found FLM easy to deploy and simple to operate. Within minutes, we were able to create various policies that enabled us to migrate the files to nearline storage without disrupting the users and applications. FLM enabled us to create a tiered storage architecture, thereby helping us reduce the cost of storage."

“SANZ’s goal is to help our clients dramatically reduce storage management expenditures while improving overall service levels. We are particularly proud to win in this category as it represents the next wave in enterprise data management infrastructure,” said George Crump, Vice President of Technology Solutions for SANZ. “While many in the storage industry are talking about Data Lifecycle Management, few are actually implementing it and fewer still are in production.”

Rahul Mehta, CEO of NuView, Inc., said, “SANZ has often led the charge in bringing pioneering IT solutions to end-users. Mustang Engineering is representative of SANZ’s forward-thinking customer-base that continuously seeks efficiencies in data management towards reducing infrastructure costs. We sincerely appreciate the support SANZ has provided NuView in delivering FLM to the early adopters of Data Lifecycle Management solutions.”
