TEL AVIV, Israel -- Dec. 14, 2004 -- LocatioNet (www.locationet.com) announced today that Partner Communications Company Ltd, operating the orange(TM) network in Israel, has launched LocatioNet's MyMap application. The launch was part of Partner's launch of its new 3G network in Israel, where MyMap was one of several new advanced data applications. MyMap is a graphical mapping guide that allows users to easily view and scroll colorful maps, use an advanced key-word search engine to locate any point of interest (POI) from a comprehensive database and calculate best routes to get to any address or POI in Israel.
"We are very pleased with LocatioNet's MyMap application," said Ami Feinstein, Partner's New Applications Product Marketing Department Manager. "It is the most advanced on-line mapping application we have seen for mobile phones to date. It is an intuitive mapping tool that many subscribers would like to have as a basic value-added service on their mobile phone. The fact that it does not necessarily require a smart phone to run on, makes it suitable also for our 2G network subscribers," added Feinstein. "Maps and POI in Israel are now available for our subscribers anytime anywhere."
"We are very excited to have Partner in Israel as the first customer to launch MyMap2.0," said Ofer Tziperman, President of LocatioNet. "MyMap2.0 is an advanced version we have developed for J2ME, BREW and WAP enabled handsets. We aimed for the average user. Based on our advanced back-end GIS engine and middleware platform and utilizing our newly developed GISpeed technology, we managed to offer users an advanced mapping tool on their mobile handsets."
MyMap flows with the typical human behavior in searching for location-related information, without the pain of going through an endless menu of categories and sub-categories. It turns any color mobile phone into a powerful mapping directory.
