Online Registration for GITA’s GIS for Oil & Gas Conference Now Open
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

June 23, 2004: Aurora, Colo. — The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) announced that online registration for its 13th Annual GIS for Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition, A Roadmap to Spatial Integration, is now open at https://www.gita.org/events/oil_gas/04/reg.html.

The conference, set for Sept. 20-22, 2004, in Houston, Texas, is the only event of its kind, devoted exclusively to GIS applications and technologies for both the upstream and downstream aspects of the oil and gas industry. Expanded to three complete days this year, the conference will include four half-day seminars, a series of paper presentations, a user forum, an industry panel discussion, and an extensive product and services exhibition.

Conference Chair Greg McCool of El Paso Corp. in Houston said the conference committee has developed an educational event that will appeal to oil and gas geographic information system (GIS) practitioners of all levels. “We’re looking forward to this expanded conference, especially because of the opportunity to get our colleagues updated on all the new technological developments in the industry, as well as the regulatory changes.”

Attendees can take advantage of an early registration discount by registering for the conference before Aug. 27, 2004. Full-conference registration for the event, which includes admission to all paper presentations, social functions, the exhibition hall, indicated meal functions, as well as a copy of the conference proceedings, is $495 for GITA members and $605 for nonmembers before Aug. 27. Seminars are priced at $95 each for members and $105 each for nonmembers prior to Aug. 27, and an exhibits-only pass, which allows admission to the exhibition hall, is $25.

The event will be held at Houston’s JW Marriott Hotel, which is offering special conference rates for attendees. United Airlines, the official airline of the conference, and Avis, the official automobile rental agency for the conference, are each offering attendees special rates as well; further information is available on GITA’s Web site, www.gita.org.
