IDELIX Releases Pliable Display Technology (PDT) Java Software Development Kit

CANSEC 2004, Ottawa, Ontario - - Vancouver, British Columbia based IDELIX® Software Inc. released today a Java version of the award-winning Pliable Display Technology® (PDT®) Software Development Kit (SDK). The PDT Java SDK offers the same functionalities as its C++ counterpart and enables customers to integrate PDT into Java stand-alone and web-based applications.

"Our support for the Java platform opens the door to many new opportunities for IDELIX," states Bijan Sanii, President & CEO of IDELIX. "The PDT Java SDK is critical to providing the breadth of platform support necessary for our customers and partners to integrate PDT into network centric, mobile, and wireless applications that run across a multitude of platforms and devices".

Pliable Display Technology represents the next generation user interface for data discovery in a geospatial context. PDT has enabled image analysts, geospatial analysts and other users at the command and control and first responder levels within the geospatial intelligence community to improve situational awareness and perform labor-intensive, time-critical workflow tasks such as change detection, editing, annotation, mensuration and symbology placement with greater efficiency and accuracy.

The PDT Java SDK extends the platform independence of the Pliable Display Technology family, which also includes a PDT three-dimensional SDK and a PDT two-dimensional SDK written in ANSI C++ with support for Open GL and Non-Open GL renderings, and specific classes for DirectX rendering. A separate wrapper to the C++ SDK is provided for COM and .Net use.

"The release of the PDT Java SDK enables developers to integrate PDT's advanced user interface capabilities into browser-based thin client applications and platform-independent Java applications," remarked Dr. David Baar, Chief Technology Officer of IDELIX. "With new Java development tools coming on the market to facilitate building visual front ends to back end data repositories, the PDT Java SDK is a natural fit with core Java imaging and graphics capabilities. It is a step towards making PDT a standard user interface technology for the large global Java development community."

IDELIX is currently partnering with the Eastman Kodak Company and Intergraph consortium for the NGA's Softcopy Search Program. Pliable Display Technology is currently being integrated within the Paragon Imaging ELT Series software and is already available in Boeing Autometric's KDSP and Softplotter products. PDT is also integrated within Black Coral GIS, a new situational analysis tool that will be showcased at the 2004 Joint Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (JWID) Trials in June.

About IDELIX
IDELIX is comprised of a team of scientists with expertise in the field of Information Visualization. Our leading product is Pliable Display Technology (PDT), an innovative visualization interface designed to improve situational awareness and decision-making capabilities of end-users. PDT facilitates "detail-in-context" magnification and editing functionality in digital imagery and multi-layer data sets. It addresses the common screen real estate challenges faced when working with complex 2D, 3D, multi-fused data sets and motion imagery within the spatial limits of any display screen. Major opportunities for PDT exist in markets where visualization software plays a large role such as Defense and Intelligence, GIS and Remote Sensing, CAD/CAM, Handheld/Wireless, and Oil and Gas Exploration and Production.
