Merrick Completes Digital Orthophotography and Mapping Contract for the City of Grants Pass, Oregon

Denver, CO USA – Merrick & Company, a world leader in LIDAR, digital ortho imaging, photogrammetry and GIS mapping announces completion of a contract for the City of Grants Pass, Oregon. Merrick provided one-foot pixel resolution digital color orthophotography, LIDAR, and one-foot contours over the 28 square miles urban growth boundary. Merrick has provided aerial photography for Grants Pass every three years since 1995. The digital imagery was captured using Merrick's Digital Airborne Camera System (DACS™) that is co-mounted with the LIDAR sensor.
According to Gary Outlaw, Vice-President GIS Business Development, “Grants Pass is experiencing growth in new residential building and tourism. We were very pleased to provide mapping products to support their work.”
Craig Claassen, City of Grants Pass Surveyor, states, “We appreciate that Merrick has consistently offered us the latest technological advances and that we receive the highest quality products available.”
Claassen continues, “The aerial photography is available to our citizens via two public computers located at our Community Development office counter. The aerial photography is used daily by staff in all city departments. The mapping products are used by the departments of Planning, Engineering, and Utilities. ”
