LocaModa Turns Mobile Phones Into Remote Controls
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

BOSTON, April 18 -- LocaModa Inc., a pioneer of mobile location-based interactive marketing and commerce, today launched MobileRC, an interactive software application that enables shoppers to use a standard mobile phone like a remote control, to control a large screen display typically found in a retail environment.

"MobileRC is a very intuitive and compelling application," said Stephen Randall, LocaModa's CEO. "People are more likely to interact with location-based services when they remain in control. We do that literally by turning their mobile phones into remote controls."

Hammond/GMAC Real Estate is initiating a pilot program with MobileRC in its highly trafficked Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA location. Its President, Tod Beaty, commented, "MobileRC allows us to provide more information about our properties to consumers responsively and easily. I am always searching for ways to market innovatively and to provide better service. MobileRC does both!"

The MobileRC platform offers a hosted service that enables a storefront interactive screen to allow prospective homebuyers to browse properties via their mobile phones. Users call the number displayed on screens located in the realtor's window. The phone, IVR system, real estate database, navigation and screen control are all managed by LocaModa's Mobile RC platform to create a seamless and intuitive user experience.

LocaModa co-founder, John Ivey commented, "Getting the customer to walk through the door of any business is a challenge. We help customer acquisition by offering interactive information that is more likely to compel customers to enter the sales process."

MobileRC applications for other industries such as automotive and retail are currently in development. LocaModa is rolling out the MobileRC real estate application nationally in Q3 2005.
