Intergraph 2005 Geospatial Achievement & Cartographic Excellence Awards Programs Accepting Entries

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Jan. 31, 2005 - Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions and the Intergraph GeoSpatial Users Community (IGUC) today announced it is accepting entries for the Intergraph 2005 Geospatial Achievement and Cartographic Excellence Awards Programs. The competitions, which are designed to acknowledge and promote exemplary performance using geospatial technology, highlight innovative and technologically advanced implementations worldwide.

The Geospatial Achievement Awards Program recognizes Intergraph users who have developed innovative, technologically advanced mapping and geospatial solutions to better serve their communities or constituencies. The competition will highlight organizations that are helping to set the standard for the industry's future with development of industry-leading solutions. The deadline for entries is March 15, 2005. Award recipients will be notified by April 1, 2005, and will receive complimentary registration to GeoSpatial World 2005, the IGUC international training and management conference, April 26-28, in San Francisco, Calif. Winners will be announced and receive a recognition award during a special ceremony on April 27 immediately following the keynote address. Intergraph will honor one recipient in each of the following categories:

  • Government Solutions
  • Military and Intelligence Solutions
  • Earth Imaging Solutions
  • Transportation Industry Solutions
  • Utilities and Communications Industry Solutions
  • Applications Development
  • Academic Research and Education

    Cartographic Excellence Awards Program recipients earn professional recognition and acknowledgement of their achievement on the Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions' Web site and in corporate publications with the potential for inclusion in industry publications. In addition, the first-place winner in each award category will receive $1,000 (U.S.). All entries will be exhibited and judged during GeoSpatial World 2005 with the announcement of the winners and presentation of the awards taking place during the special ceremony on April 27. Individuals are invited to submit entries in one or more of the following categories by the March 31, 2005, submission deadline:

  • Category I: Plotted Maps - Entries should be printed on a computer plotter. Expected entries are thematic maps produced for geographic information system (GIS) applications for analytical or interpretive presentations.

  • Category II: Printed Maps - Entries must be lithographic print; printed on an offset printing press. Expected entries are topographic, reference, planimetric, composite and specialized theme submissions, including image maps. For example, traditional maps such as atlas maps, city plans, transportation maps and aeronautical and nautical charts.

  • Category III: Internet Presentations - Presentations must be produced using Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions' Web products.
