Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

London, Date 23 February 2005 - MapInfo has launched Cartique(tm) Europe 2004, the latest version of its detailed, 28-layer, digital map base for graphic output, backdrop mapping and route planning. Seamless and consistent for mapping across the whole of Europe, Cartique Europe 2004 provides greater accuracy and detail and better reflects European mapping conventions. Its comprehensive gazetteer has also been increased by 160,000 points and now provides over 640,000 locations, communications links and features.

Used in conjunction with MapInfo's leading location-intelligence software and tools, such as MapInfo Professional®, MapX® or Drivetime®, Cartique provides an essential data set for a wide range of applications including market analysis, site location, routing and network analysis and is used across a range of industry sectors including retail, financial services, telecoms, automotive, local government and emergency services.

In announcing Cartique Europe 2004, Naomi Andersson, Product Manager, EMEA Data Products, MapInfo, commented, "Extensive data processing has resulted in this greatly improved background mapping dataset. Users can now benefit from improved and updated cartographic styling, giving the map an up-to-date look and feel in keeping with European mapping styles. Easy to install and use Cartique will immediately add value to a range of business processes and applications where location intelligence is key to effective decision making."

Cartique provides a consistent vector map database at a nominal scale of 1:300,000 and is available for the whole of Europe, selected regions or individual countries.

Comprising both mapping and drive time datasets Cartique can be used stand-alone, or in conjunction with MapInfo tools to create powerful business applications. The datasets are supplied with MapInfo Professional workspaces, geosets, mdfs and the new MapInfo universal file definition .MWS, and are optimised to open and display the associated data files in one operation.

Cartique Mapping - A background mapping dataset designed for displaying spatial information over wide geographical areas and suitable for numerous applications where data visualisation, location analysis and route planning are required. Cartique Mapping contains five classes of roads, motorway exits and junctions, rest areas and toll booths, airports and ferries, urban areas, international and selected administrative boundaries, open water and coastline. The gazetteer contains over 640,000 European cities, towns, villages and suburbs plus indications of each places' relative importance.

Cartique Drivetime - Cartique Drivetime consists of an additional table of all roads, structured into link and node format, overlaying seamlessly with Cartique Mapping. The data includes off-peak private vehicle travel speeds, weight limits, road exit conditions and other road attributes for drivetime analysis.

Cartique 2004 is available immediately from MapInfo or any MapInfo authorised reseller. Prices for Cartique Mapping start from £1,650 excluding VAT. Prices for Cartique Drivetime Network data start from £825 excluding VAT.
