Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 23 -- Sony Electronics has engaged Synergy Systems, LLC, a premier supplier of Global Positioning System (GPS) location and timing solutions for more than 19 years, to distribute and support Sony's GPS semiconductor and OEM module products.

Synergy Systems will exhibit Sony's single chip CMOS GPS receiver IC and modules at the GPS-Wireless conference in San Francisco, Feb. 24-25.

"We are expecting substantial growth in the GPS market," said Aki Hasegawa, president of Sony's Component Solutions Business Division. "As our GPS product distributor, Synergy Systems will assist us in rolling out an expanded product offering, targeting both traditional and emerging GPS applications."

"Synergy is excited about the opportunity to offer Sony GPS modules and ICs to complement and expand our location-based product line," said Art Sepin, president of Synergy Systems, LLC. "Our technical sales and application engineering teams are collaborating with Sony to deliver integrated value-added solutions to our customers."

Sony's GPS product lineup includes:
  • CXD2951 Single Chip CMOS GPS Receiver IC: The industry's first single-chip CMOS GPS LSI that incorporates a built-in RF circuit in an ultra-miniature design. Developed independently by Sony, the CXD2951 incorporates Sony's advanced RF-CMOS block signal processing architecture to enable high sensitivity, minimal power consumption and high-performance. It is ideal for a wide range of location-based applications, such as automotive, cellular handsets, handheld navigation, asset tracking, fleet management and mobile computing devices.

  • CXA3355 GPS RF Down Converter: A small, low power and full-featured RF down converter for use in GPS receiver applications. This SiGe BiCMOS IC can be coupled with a GPS baseband IC or integrated into a software GPS solution.

  • GPS Modules: A complete line of high performance GPS modules based on Sony's advanced single chip GPS LSI, including WAAS, integrated antenna and surface mount options. Customers have the ability to select the amount of integration, form factor, and configuration that best suits their target application.

Synergy Systems' offices, engineering laboratory, product assembly and stocking facilities reside in San Diego, Calif. More information can be found at www.synergy-gps.com.
