Wallingford Software announces FloodWorks V4.0
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Wallingford, UK – 22 February 2005 – Wallingford Software announces today the release of Version 4.0 of FloodWorks, the flood warning and flood management system. The new version contains extensive productivity improvements, underlining its value as a real-time operational and decision support system in flood control rooms during flood threats and flood events.

The enhanced features include:

  • More language options – the FloodWorks Event Manager interface is now available in Chinese, Dutch, Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian, and Japanese as well as English

  • Open Data Import and Export Centres – importing node and link and polygon feature data from several different GIS based data sources - CSV or Tab separated data – JET/Access Database, GeoDatabases (both MS Access and ArcSDE geodatabases), ArcView Shape File, and MapInfo Tab File. Data can also be exported in the same formats. Data can also be manipulated using SQL or VBScript during the export process.

  • Easier report configuration – new report specification enables simple incorporation of graphs, summary tables, and maps into Word reports or web pages, using pre-configured XML specifications when required

  • Fast restore of workspaces – restoring a desktop to a specific configuration by drag and drop using FloodWorks Configuration Manager

  • Multiple GeoPlan Views – more than one GeoPlan View can be displayed on the same network.

Paul Banfield, Sales Director of Wallingford Software, believes the new developments will prove invaluable to users of FloodWorks. “When FloodWorks is in use during flood threats or flood events, time is of the essence. Every improvement in ease of use in the software provides benefits to the control room staff working under severe time pressure to mitigate the impact of flooding. We have always seen ease of use as just as important as accuracy in all our software, and nowhere is this more evident than in the many flood control rooms around the world that depend on FloodWorks.
