Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Munich, Germany, January 10, 2005 - Definiens Imaging today announced the availability of its new Academic Software Subscription Program for eCognition Professional. Through the program, academic customers may purchase subscriptions for a minimum of three years to run multiple licenses of eCognition Professional. The new subscription program reduces large up-front capital expenditures, making it easier for customers to invest in Definiens Imaging's unique technology for advanced image classification.

During the subscription period, product updates and support are included at no additional cost. After which the customer owns the licenses covered by the subscription program, and can decide whether to keep the current version with no extra costs, or to sign a Support & Upgrade contract to get access to Definiens Imaging's support and upgrades. In effect, the customer owns a permanent license after the three years term.

Commenting on Definiens Imaging's new software subscription program, Markus Heynen, manager of international sales and marketing said, "This new program benefits universities and colleges by providing more flexibility in managing the costs of deploying our unique image classification solution. The new purchasing option provides researchers and lecturers with additional cost-effective options to apply eCognition in research and education."

Academic Subscription licenses are immediately available through Definiens Imaging and its international sales partners.
