ESRI Named in 2004 DM Review 100 Only GIS Vendor to Receive This Honor

Redlands, California-ESRI, the world leader in geographic information system (GIS) technology, today announced it was named in the 2004 DM Review 100. This prestigious award recognizes the top 100 companies serving the business intelligence community based on a comprehensive survey of DM Review magazine readers. The only GIS vendor in the ranking, ESRI joined other top companies, including IBM, SAS, and Business Objects, chosen in the business intelligence, data warehousing, and data management industries. ESRI improved its ranking on the list to 33rd. Its ranking last year was 59th and was also the only GIS vendor named in the 2003 survey.

Rankings were determined by a statistical analysis process. Scores were based on items including product quality, market share, and customer satisfaction. ESRI's technology helps organizations easily see data in a spatial context across an entire organization, in the field, and on the Internet.

Companies use this information for a variety of applications such as updating and managing assets in real time and providing location-based services to users. "Companies continue to recognize the value of visualizing data," says Jack Dangermond, president, ESRI. "ESRI makes it easy to integrate spatial visualization in an information technology (IT) environment across an organization's enterprise because of our commitment to open standards.

Business users who invest in our software are finding that using GIS technology allows them to make faster and more informed business decisions." DM Review magazine has been the premier publication for business intelligence, analytics, integration, and data warehousing for the past 14 years. Readers of the magazine were given defined product categories and were asked to select vendors of the products used in their organizations.

Survey participants were asked to respond from mid-May until August 2004. The winners were announced in the December issue of the magazine.
