Geosoft Releases Oasis montaj 6.2

Toronto, Ontario – Geosoft Inc. is pleased to announce the release of Oasis montaj version 6.2, the company’s industry standard mapping and processing software for exploration and earth science investigations.
Oasis montaj is valued both for its ability to manage complex, large volume geoscientific data processing with speed and precision, and its ability to deliver high quality mapping and map products.
Geosoft’s Oasis montaj software provides one integrated platform and user friendly interface for productive manipulation of large geophysical, geological and geochemical datasets. The software’s advanced visualization and high quality presentation capabilities help to reduce risk and increase understanding within compressed project time frames, maximizing the value of data in decision-making.
Geosoft’s subsurface geology software Target and Target for ArcGIS, are both built on Oasis montaj’s powerful geospatial mapping platform. Target for ArcGIS simplifies the visualization and analysis of subsurface drillhole and borehole geology data within ESRI’s GIS environment. It also provides rich functionality for creating grids and contours within ArcView.
Oasis montaj 6.2 includes enhancements to the software’s three dimensional visualization technology and increased data format support.
Within the geosciences, the need to import and export data in the correct spatial context is paramount and Geosoft’s 6.2 upgrade further enhances the ability in which geoscientists can understand, validate and migrate their data into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or production-oriented applications, such as mine planning systems.
The Oasis montaj 6.2 update incorporates the following:
Support for the Unicode libraries from Microsoft and other third party libraries, providing the ability to use any language or character set/code for filenames, GDB text strings, map layers and map labels.
Ability to create 3D Voxel Models using the 3D Kriging gridding method. The ability to import GOCAD and UBC 3D Model and MSH files has also been added. Geosoft Voxel files can also be exported to GOCAD and UBC files.
Enhanced 3D support, including 3D DXF Import and the ability to use Vertical Exaggeration in 3D views. DXF import has been improved to better retain the line and text attributes of the DXF file.
These enhancements are also available within Target 6.2. Additionally, in Target and the montaj Drillhole extension, Geosoft has added the ability to import and export Surpac files.
