INTERGEO 2005 - The Conference for Professionals
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Cutting edge content, quality and internationality - the INTERGEO 2005 conference programme has come hot off the press and proves impressively that the world-wide largest and most important conference and trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management lives up to the experts' high expectations. The event is taking place in Düsseldorf and runs from 4 to 6 October 2005. The conference programme is currently being posted and can be viewed at www.intergeo.de; online bookings are possible from 6 June onwards. Visitors to the trade fair as well as conference delegates benefit from the extension of the event to three entire days. Cross-border projects with The Netherlands, Tsunami research and the resulting challenges for the discipline, airborne laser scanning, E-Government or geodata in the communications industry - no subject at the cutting edge of the industry is missed out by the high profile programme of talks and discussions, which are organised into 20 interesting thematic blocks. The thematic blocks are organised into a structure of half days so that there is enough time left for a visit of the trade fair. The Geodetical Week with its positioning and earth surveying forum as well as eight further sessions gives especially young scientists the opportunity for the exchange of ideas and information. How to overcome the hostility against technology is one aspect of Professor Gert Kaiser's speech. He will open the INTERGEO on 4 October at 10 a.m. with his opening address titled "The public image of science". Professor Kaiser created the East Asia Institute at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and established close links with Japan, so he represents the motto of the INTERGEO 2005 "Crossing boundaries" in a very special way. The conference delegates are following his example by putting geoinformation without frontiers at the focus of the event.

A number of expert excursions, an attractive evening programme and the INTERGEO Forum create a wide variety of opportunities for the exchange of ideas between experts in the geo-industry. Until 14 August potential delegates have the chance to obtain Early Bird discounts when booking the conference ticket. All conference tickets include entry to the trade fair and the season ticket includes a 4 day ticket for the free-of-charge use of all public transport provided by the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR).

After the huge success of the jubilee event last year a large number of exhibitors are using the INTERGEO Forum to demonstrate their products and services through short presentations away from their exhibition stand and as part of the conference. Entry to the forum is free-of-charge for all delegates.

The INTERGEO 2005 takes place from 4 to 6 October 2005 at Messe Düsseldorf. Its motto is "Crossing boundaries". For the first time the industry meets for three entire days. The trade fair is open from Tuesday until Thursday, daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For further information please visit www.intergeo.de
