Washington, DC, March 21, 2005 – The Carbon Project has announced that Forestry Tasmania, a Government Business Enterprise managing over 1.5 million hectares of state forest in Tasmania , has selected CarbonTools to help support its future digital cadastre data access projects.
Based on the Microsoft .NET 1.1 Framework, CarbonTools provides a powerful, extendible yet simple API for accessing geospatial web services based on Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) specifications.
CarbonTools provides an easy way for open geospatial developers to use any OGC Web Map Service (WMS) or Web Feature Service (WFS) and easily handle GML, OGC’s XML encoding for geospatial information.
"The world of geospatial software components made a giant leap forward when The Carbon Project made the best-of-breed CarbonTools OGC services toolkit available for free. CarbonTools will play a key role in my organization enabling our systems to display the latest digital cadastral data live from Tasmanian Government LIST WMS sources. We also plan to use it to support live WFS queries against LIST property data."
says Simon Greener, GIS Manager, Forestry Tasmania.
The Land Information System Tasmania (the LIST) is a "whole of government" integrated land information infrastructure with a web-based delivery system.
