LONGMONT, Colo., DigitalGlobe(R) and Canada-based
Valtus Imagery Services (Valtus), a division of NorthWest Geomatics Ltd., have
entered into an initial three year data distribution partnership to bring
high-resolution commercial satellite imagery to Valtus customers via the
Valtus Web site (http://www.valtusimagery.com).
Valtus customers who subscribe to the company's VISTA and VIEWS online Web
services will now be able to access DigitalGlobe's 60-centimeter resolution
QuickBird satellite imagery in addition to Valtus' already-large inventories
of aerial data. VISTA (Valtus Imagery Services Terrain Archives) is a
convenient online solution for users who require immediate access to
downloadable, georeferenced mapping data. VIEWS (Valtus Imagery Enhanced Web
Service) provides instant, secure access to an extensive library of imagery
that can be seamlessly integrated into mapping applications and geographic
information systems (GIS).
In addition to delivering imagery from DigitalGlobe's existing digital
ImageLibrary (including DigitalGlobe's CitySphere cities in Canada),
DigitalGlobe plans strategic collections and delivery of large-area imagery in
British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Valtus' primary target market is the energy market, but its customers also
come from markets as varied as real estate, telecom, and Canadian federal and
provincial governments. Expansion of Valtus Imagery Services into the U.S. is
underway.
"This agreement with DigitalGlobe supplements our existing base of aerial
imagery with the highest resolution commercially available satellite imagery.
It will also allow our customers to access imagery worldwide from
DigitalGlobe's ImageLibrary as well as order custom collections as required,"
said Tim Crago, vice president and general manager of Valtus Imagery Services.
"The availability of DigitalGlobe's imagery on our secure Web servers will
open up whole new opportunities for Valtus customers who want access to huge
inventories of data without having to manage the data themselves."
