NAVTEQ Announces Advanced Technology Demonstrations at ITS World Congress

CHICAGO, Oct. 6 -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, will be showcasing the expansive capabilities of its digital maps at the upcoming 12th Annual World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) taking place November 6 - 10 in San Francisco, CA. NAVTEQ is leading and enabling the development of a wide variety of intelligent transportation technology demonstrations at the show.

Demonstrations powered by NAVTEQ(R) maps include:

  • Forward Collision Warning for Public Transport Vehicles: audio-visual warning by the vehicle to the driver that an approaching intersection is blocked;

  • Curve Speed Warning: communication by the car to the driver that the driver is approaching a curve and should respond accordingly;

  • Enhanced 511: Automated travel information via phone service augmenting the existing bay area 511 service with additional content functionality;

  • Map Enabled Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII): enables the road infrastructure to communicate directly to the vehicle, and the vehicle to communicate directly with the infrastructure, with information such as congestion, weather, etc.; and

  • Wireless Map Replacements: automatic, wireless download of map data from remote sites to in-vehicle navigation systems.
