SpatialNews.com Press Release

Generic GML 3 Database Import Tool and FREE Viewer Now Available
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Snowflake Software announces the latest release of its generic GML loading tool, GO Loader. Originally designed to support GML 2 in particular the national dataset for Great Britain (Ordnance Survey's MasterMap), GO Loader is now the ultimate tool for loading GML 3.x into an Oracle database.

GO Loader is a complete turn-key solution for the modelling, loading and maintenance of content delivered in Geography Markup Language (GML) into an Oracle Spatial / Locator database. Its unique ability to data-model, setup, load, manage and archive has made it the premier choice for the loading of regional and national datasets in the United Kingdom .

With the recent upgrade to support generic GML 3.x, these features are now available to standard and enterprise edition users on an international level.

“The generic technology used with GO Loader has easily enabled us to follow the international standards of GML,” explained Ian Painter, Managing Director of Snowflake Software. “The Ordnance Survey was one of the earliest national mapping agencies to adopt the GML standard for data supply with its OS MasterMap dataset in GML 2.x. Other mapping agencies are now releasing data in GML 3.x format and GO Loader is ideally positioned to be ready for each of these launches.”

GO Loader's GML 3.x compatibility has already been demonstrated and proven during the TOP10NL Relay in Emmen earlier this year where Snowflake Software was the only independent supplier of GML loading tools to participate at the event.

Snowflake Software demonstrated its ability to manage GML data within an Oracle database, using the GO Loader and GO Publisher products to respectively import and export GML data (in this instance Top10NL). The unique schema technology behind GO Loader and GO Publisher adapts the tools to work with a wide variety of GML data. In addition to its experience with TOP10NL and NEN3610 , Snowflake has also been working extensively with the NAS in Germany and G2K schemas in Sweden .

Visualize GML 3 with FREE Viewing Tool
In the United Kingdom , Snowflake Software is also recognised for its OSMM Viewer. With over 3500 downloads, the viewer has been extremely popular for users wishing to view Ordnance Survey's GML2 flagship product. Since its launch in 2001, however, there are now many different GML application schema available throughout the world. In recognition of this widespread adoption of GML, Snowflake's viewer has now been engineered to read any GML2 or GML3 application schema, plus has pre-defined styling for TOP10NL (The Netherlands), AAA-NAS ( Germany ) and OS MasterMap ( Great Britain ).

This can be downloaded free of charge from our Viewer pages.
