Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

OLATHE, Kan., April 12, 2006 -- Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN - News), is offering a version of its highly-acclaimed StreetPilot c330 that allows North American motorists who speak Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Taiwanese to experience the convenience and safety of GPS satellite navigation in their native tongue.

The StreetPilot c330 Asian Americas is based on Garmin's most popular Personal Navigation Device (PND), featuring an intuitive touchscreen interface and automatic route calculation to any destination with turn-by-turn voice prompted directions in Asian languages along the way. Menus and text are displayed in one of five Asian languages as well -- the only unit in North America that offers an Asian language user interface.

Recent census figures* indicate that there are more than six million people in the United States and Canada who speak Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Taiwanese at home, at work, or both. One of the most famous members of that group is NBA basketball superstar Yao Ming.

"The language barrier can sometimes be a challenge, and it's often magnified when driving, particularly in unfamiliar areas," said Yao. "I am very happy that Garmin is now offering navigation for people who speak Asian languages but live, work, or travel in the United States and Canada."

Pre-loaded with detailed maps of the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, the StreetPilot c330 Asian Americas database features six million-plus points of interest -- including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Map data is provided by NAVTEQ -- a world leader in premium-quality mapping.

The StreetPilot c330 is available in May 2006 at an MSRP of $599.99. The unit is sold with a suction cup mount and 12-volt adapter, USB cable, and Asian language quick reference guide.
