Spatially Referenced Video, Digital Stills and Audio Enrich GIS and Enhance Decision-making
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Fort Collins, Colo. - Red Hen Systems, Inc. has automated the process of mapping geo-referenced ground data. Whether the ground observations are recorded as video, still photos or audio notes, having GPS information instantly incorporated with the images increases the productivity of field teams; in hazardous environments it reduces the risk of harm to those in the field. Fusing such spatial multimedia with GIS yields superior knowledge and understanding. By linking photos to maps, these tools add richness to the available information, and the maps become an intuitive rapid indexing tool for vast libraries of imagery.

Multimedia maps provide a powerful decision support tool for applications ranging from threat analysis to emergency preparedness, from reconnaissance and logistics planning to damage assessment and remediation. "We are intrigued by the range of interesting projects our users have carried out," said Paul McCrosson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Examples include using it in the Common Operational Picture for US and British forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, oil and gas companies monitoring pipeline rights-of-way, and municipalities planning

and managing their infrastructure. Our systems were also used to support FEMA after Katrina, Rita and Wilma; and Conservation Air Patrol has our system on a bright red Cessna mapping fires in Africa. We are finding that any application that uses maps can benefit from combining in-field 'Red Hen Photos and Video' with GIS."

Red Hen Systems, Inc. will be exhibiting GeoVideo(tm) and PixPoint for ESRI ArcGIS(r) in booth D434 at the ESRI User Conference in San Diego August 8-10, 2006. The company will also demonstrate its spatial Digital Video Recorder (sDVR(tm)), released in February of this year. The sDVR creates geospatial indexes in real time, eliminating post-mission indexing. The sDVR video media are ready-to-use in DVD authoring programs, providing a way to share work products. Red Hen will also announce a new product that further extends the capabilities of users to incorporate spatial multimedia into workflows.

In addition to displaying and demonstrating its hardware and software, the company will sponsor a series of drawings for gift certificates from popular retailers.
