Pictometry Wins RFB for Oblique Aerial Imaging and Software for Monmouth County, NJ

ROCHESTER, NY - February 13, 2006 - Pictometry International Corp., the worldwide leader in digital, aerial oblique imagery and measuring software, announced today that it has won an RFB (Request for Bid) from Monmouth County, NJ to provide oblique aerial imaging and software for the county and its local municipalities. Pictometry's countywide licensing agreement enables all municipalities in a participating county to freely access the industry leading digital aerial photography and GIS software. Monmouth County has an estimated population of over 630,000 residents and encompasses 472 square miles.

The county's Department of Information Technology is one of the most progressive in the state, implementing leading technologies that help improve operational efficiencies. Under the leadership of Chief Information Officer F. Robert Williams, in collaboration with the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the county was one of the first in the state to deploy a fiber optic network throughout the county as well as install IP telephony. "We anticipate rolling Pictometry out to all our public partners in the county, such as the Office of Emergency Management, Economic Development, Public Safety, as well as to our municipal partners," said Williams, whose department sponsored the oblique imaging project. The county imagery is scheduled to be delivered this year.

Pictometry's industry leading software enables users to easily access up to 12 different oblique (at an angle, 3D-like) views of any property, building, highway, or other feature in an area. The software also enables users to obtain measurements such as distance, height, elevation, and area directly from the oblique imagery as well as insert GIS content and other data.

"Our GIS is an enterprise-wide system that includes ESRI's ArcSDE and ArcIMS," said Eric Anderson, GIS coordinator for Monmouth County. "We've heard many positive things about Pictometry from other neighboring counties, and look forward to integrating it with our existing GIS that will enable us to better serve our communities."

"We anticipate that the Monmouth County GIS combined with Pictometry will be one of the best solutions for planning ever afforded us," said Harry Conover, coordinator of the county's Office of Emergency Management. "We look to our GIS staff for their assistance in such things as special events, including St. Patrick's Day Parade and Ocean Fest."

One of the many uses for the county's GIS in public safety includes mapping out incident areas for proper staging of first responder equipment. "We then get a better picture of the situation and are able to look at what we have written in our plan," Conover said.

"Two other areas where we utilize GIS are HAZMAT incidents (oil spills and affected areas) and Homeland Security. For example, during the Orange Alert following the London bombings, the county's Homeland Security Office and Emergency Operations Center went on 24-hour operations for all commuter transportation," Conover said.

"Enforcement officers rode the buses, ferries and trains, keeping a watchful eye out for suspicious activity," Conover said. "Again, our GIS staff provided the Emergency Operations Center with photo views of our rail stations and bus and ferry terminals. Pictometry will be a welcome addition to these procedures in the future."
