HealthPro2 – Mapping the Health of the Nation
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

February 22 2006 – MapInfo (NASDAQ: MAPS), the leading global provider of Location Intelligence solutions, will today announce the launch of a new version of its successful UK health sector mapping application suite.

MapInfo HealthPro2 provides NHS managers and analysts with access to the leading desktop solution for analysing location related information. It specifically allows NHS organisations in England to fully capitalise on the digital map data now available to them under the recent Ordnance Survey Pilot NHS agreement. Ambulance Trusts, which will be covered by the agreement from April 2006, will also benefit from the scheme.

MapInfo’s HealthPro2 allows NHS managers to perform a wide variety of functions. For example, it allows users to accurately assess patient access to health service provision and ensure that appropriate services are made available for those who need them.

HealthPro2 will also allow health professionals to visualise information instantaneously so that trends and patterns can be recognised and acted upon quickly. In addition, managers will be able to plan more effectively for emergencies and to integrate with Local Authority emergency plans.

Other key benefits offered by MapInfo mapping solutions include the ability to optimise routing for ambulance services and health visitors and being able to provide centrally managed access to shared geographic information.

Chris Bolam, Public Sector Product Manager, MapInfo, EMEA said, “Location is the common factor that pulls health and community data together and with ever challenging modernisation targets and the need to match resources with growing demand, mapping and geographic analysis are increasingly providing the location intelligence required to interpret health data, tackle health inequalities and deliver accessible services where and when they are needed.”

HealthPro2 is available immediately and provides NHS organisations in England with a quick start package for harnessing the digital map data now available under the Ordnance Survey agreement. For existing MapInfo users HealthPro2 provides additional options for more advanced analysis and spatial data management.

Diary Date
In addition to the launch of the HealthPro2, MapInfo is hosting a series of seminars for healthcare professionals entitled, Geographic Based Analysis for the Health Sector. These will be held in Birmingham on 9 March, Sheffield on 14 March and London on 15 March.

These dedicated morning seminars will detail the benefits of HeathPro 2, present a valuable case study and provide a useful question and answer session.

These will be of interest to Health Managers, Information Service, IT and Informatics Professionals within Health Boards, NHS Trusts, PCTs, Strategic Health Authorities, Ambulance Trusts and Cancer Registries, amongst others.
