NEWPORT BEACH, CA - Acacia Research Corporation announced on Thursday that Acacia Patent Acquisition Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary that is part of the Acacia technologies group, a leader in technology licensing, has acquired patents relating to the rapidly growing field of telematics.
Telematics refers to systems used in vehicles that combine wireless communication with GPS tracking and can be used in vehicle navigation systems and mobile fleet management.

"Acacia is serving an unmet need in the market for companies that want to generate revenue from the licensing of their patented technologies. Acacia's licensing success is attracting more companies that are selecting us as their chair partner," commented Paul Ryan, Acacia chairman and CEO.
"This is the fifth patented technology we have acquired this quarter and we now control 47 patent portfolios," Ryan concluded. The patents generally relate to technology for displaying mobile vehicle information on a map.
Acacia Research Corporation comprises two operating groups, Acacia Technologies group and CombiMatrix group.
