Aurora, Colo. May, 22, 2006 — GeoWeb 2006 Conference organizer Galdos Systems Inc., Vancouver, British Columbia, and conference supporter the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA), Aurora, Colo., are pleased to announce that Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Oracle is upgrading their silver sponsorship to a gold sponsorship for the conference.

GeoWeb 2006, which will take place July 24-28, 2006, at the Morris J. Wosk Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, is the only conference focused exclusively on the convergence of GIS and the Internet.

“The confluence of GIS and Web technology is further evidence that geospatial information has become an integral part of the mainstream IT environment,” said Steve Hagan, vice president of Server Technologies, Oracle. “As the provider of the world’s most widely used spatial database technology, Oracle’s participation in GeoWeb 2006 is key to reaching the thousands of organizations that manage geospatial data in their enterprise.”

As part of its sponsorship of the GeoWeb Conference, Oracle is scheduled to present a workshop entitled “Introduction to Oracle® JDeveloper and Oracle Application Server MapViewer”—a hands-on introduction to developing rich client Web mapping applications using Oracle JDeveloper’s new support for JavaServer Faces, and the new Oracle MapViewer AJAX client. Attendees will learn how to write a browser-based application that allows virtually seamless display and free-hand navigation of pre-generated base-map tiles, overlay of dynamic Oracle Spatial-based query layers, and red-lining functions. This session is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, at 1:30 p.m. at GeoWeb 2006.

“The contribution of Oracle and all of GeoWeb’s sponsors will be essential to the event’s success,” said Ron Lake, Chairman & CEO of Galdos Systems Inc. “We are very pleased with Oracle’s decision to play a major role in the conference.”

GeoWeb 2006 will feature workshops, paper presentations, keynote addresses, and a products and services exhibition, focused on open standards, Web services, service-oriented architecture, and business and policy issues.

Information about the conference, including registration, sponsorship, and exhibiting, can be found at www.geoweb.org.
