CENTENNIAL, Colo., – CompassTools Inc., a provider of GIS field data collection tools, has formed a new division as an Autodesk Value Added Reseller in Colorado and New Mexico. Based in Centennial, Colo., the CompassTools Autodesk Division will provide sales, support, training and solutions relating to the Autodesk geospatial product line.

“We are very fortunate to have CompassTools join the Autodesk VAR network. Their expertise in key GIS markets and capabilities in IT integration, services, support and training make them an ideal GIS solutions provider in a rapidly growing market,” said Scott Cox, Autodesk Geospatial Business Development Manager.

The CompassTools Autodesk Division will provide products and services to government and civil end-user markets. To oversee the new division, CompassTools has hired Robert Potter as Business Development Manager. A long-time GIS consultant, Potter brings 10 years of experience with Autodesk as an applications engineer to the new position at CompassTools. He may be reached at bpotter@compasstoolsinc.com.

“These new Autodesk GIS solutions provide a logical transition from the CAD world to GIS applications,” said W. Brant Howard, CompassTools CEO. “CompassTools is excited about integrating Autodesk GIS with our current offering of GPS field data collection tools to enable our customers to move field data into their GIS and CAD solutions more efficiently.”

Howard continued, “We see a perfect synergy between the Autodesk GIS solutions and the GIS field data collection products CompassTools has been offering for more than a decade. As CAD users begin expanding their capabilities into GIS applications through the Autodesk GIS solutions, these users will need many of the complementary GPS development tools and services we now provide.”
