Online Seminar Shows How ESRI’s ArcGIS Military Analyst 9.2 Assists in Defense and Intelligence
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Redlands, California — A Web seminar this month will demonstrate to people working in defense and intelligence communities how to use the display and analysis tools in ArcGIS Military Analyst 9.2.

Introduction to ArcGIS Military Analyst 9.2 will air on ESRI’s Training and Education Web site at www.esri.com/training on August 16 at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 3:00 p.m. Pacific daylight time.

This software extension incorporates a suite of display and analysis tools tailored to meet the defense and intelligence users’ special needs. ArcGIS Military Analyst 9.2 lets geographic information system (GIS) professionals create, query, analyze, and display spatial data in a wide selection of formats. The extension maximizes the use of the standard suite of U.S. Department of Defense geospatial products by allowing direct use and rendering of vector and raster products, line of sight (LOS) assessments, Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) conversion, and Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED) analysis.

Viewers of the live training seminar will learn how they can use the extension to enhance the effectiveness of core ArcGIS software functionality.

The presenter will discuss

  • Collecting, analyzing, and displaying National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) data
  • Coordinate conversion using the Coordinate tool
  • Geodetic measurement using the Geodesy tools
  • Creating, loading, and displaying ArcGIS Military Analyst catalogs
  • Basic surface analysis using the Terrain Analysis tools

This seminar is designed for those in the defense and intelligence communities who are new to ArcGIS Military Analyst but have a basic understanding of ArcMap and ArcCatalog. Intermediate knowledge of the geodatabase and ArcGIS Spatial Analyst will be helpful.

A broadband Internet connection and an ESRI Global Account are needed to watch the seminar. Creating a global account is easy and free: visit www.esri.com/lts, click Login, and register your name and address. After the live presentation, the seminar will be archived and available on the ESRI Training and Education Web site.
