Croatian Roads Integrates MapText’s Label-Web into High-Quality Web Mapping Aplications

Plainsboro, NJ – March 1, 2007. MapText, Inc. and its Croatian reseller, TEB Informatika, have announced that Croatian Roads (Hrvatske Ceste) successfully integrated MapText’s Label-Web into its comprehensive web mapping service.
Croatian Roads is a national highway transportation agency in Croatia. With the active help of TEB Informatika, the agency started to use GIS technology for their Intranet projects a number of years ago. GIS technology has been used in most of their systems – from planning to maintenance activities.
There are three levels of customers within the enterprise. Most of the users are read-only users who are able to see the data that is collected and prepared for them and use it in their particular applications. Specialists in some departments use desktop GIS to create specific reports for their particular needs. And, there are GIS administrators whose responsibility is to keep their road database up-to-date, for both alphanumeric and spatial data. Recently, a new GeoMedia WebMap-based Intranet solution has been completed at the agency. The system is being used by all authorized employees within Croatian Roads across the country.
With so many users accessing the system, a need for high-quality dynamic labels arose, and a decision was made to acquire MapText’s Label-Web solution that has achieved enormous success in the GeoMedia WebMap community. Implementation of Label-Web was fast and easy.
The ability to get information about weather conditions, pavement conditions and road equipment from one central system, and present this information on aesthetic thematic maps with high-quality text placement is exactly what Croatian Roads has set as a goal.
