HP Reinforces Leadership in the Technical Market with Enhancement of Large-format Printer
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Las Vegas, NV - HP today announced the new HP Designjet 510 Printer series, HP’s most affordable standalone printer designed for small studios that print technical (including AEC, MCAD, GIS and GPP) drawings in-house.

The HP Designjet 510 builds upon HP’s best-selling large-format printer, the HP Designjet 500, which has sold more than 500,000. The HP Designjet 510 offers the same reliability and high quality with enhanced functionality and ease-of-use.

The HP Designjet 510 Printer series includes new features that serve to reinforce HP’s position as the trusted choice in large-format printing high-quality:

• HP-GL/2 in-printer processing technology, the standard file format language developed by HP for computer-aided design (CAD) applications, eliminates printing delays by freeing up computer resources and minimizing network traffic.
• HP Instant Printing Utility 1.0, which lets users conveniently print HP-GL/2 files by simply pressing a button.

“With the HP Designjet 500 Printer series, we democratized in-house large-format printing – its affordability and high reliability made it an optimal solution even for small studios,” said Santiago Morera, vice president and general manager, Large-format Printing Business, Imaging and Printing Group, HP. “Now, with the HP Designjet 510 Printer series, our customers can boost their productivity and profitability even further.”

The built-in HP-GL/2 in-printer processing technology – to be included in all stand-alone large-format printers in HP’s technical printing portfolio going forward – enables the HP Designjet 510 Printer series to process technical files up to four times faster than the previous model. With Original HP printing supplies, this printing system delivers sharp black-and-white and color drawings with fine lines as thin as 0.04 mm.(1)

As part of a continuous effort to streamline large-format printing, the new HP Instant Printing Utility 1.0 lets users create, store and reprint CAD projects conveniently without reconfiguring settings, thereby avoiding trial and error. The utility works with the nearly 2 million technical Designjet printers that HP has sold in its 25 year history of large-format printing.

The HP Designjet 510 Printer series enables users to conveniently print D/A1-sized line drawings, plans, schematics or maps on a variety of HP and other large-format printing materials in as little as 55 seconds(2) so CAD users can view their work and present or make changes in real time. In addition, the device offers a four-color, high-resolution (2,400 x 1,200 optimized dpi) printing system that delivers fine line quality and high accuracy (+/-0.2 percent)(3) and processes complex files easily with the expanded 160 MB of memory upgradeable to 416 MB.

The HP Designjet 510 supports more than 50 Original HP large-format printing materials designed together with HP pigment and dye inks. A complete list of compatible HP large format printing supplies is available at www.hp.com/go/designjet/supplies

The estimated U.S. street price for the HP Designjet 510 24-inch model is $2,095 and for the 42-inch model is $3,195.(4) Both models are expected to be available December 2008. More information about HP’s Graphic Arts portfolio is available at www.hp.com/go/graphicarts. Further details about the HP Designjet 510 Printer series and HP Instant Printing Utility are available at www.hp.com/go/designjet510 and www.hp.com/go/hpinstantprintingutility, respectively.
