Goldsboro, NC – After a competitive bid process, Orange County, California, selected
Geographic Technologies Group, Inc. (GTG) to develop a multi-year, phased GIS Strategic
Implementation Plan. The plan will evaluate current GIS operations in the County and make
recommendations that will ensure an enterprise-wide GIS.
One of the most populous counties in the nation, Orange County is located at the center of
Southern California’s Tech Coast. Curt Hinton, CEO of GTG, stated: “This is a very important
project for Orange County and an exciting project for our staff. Orange County staff understand
that GIS is an integrative tool that will add value to all of their existing Information Technology
investments. The County has made a decision to adopt a multi-year plan that will ensure that
the solutions will embrace a holistic view of the technology instead of the typical ‘stove-pipes’ of
technology that naturally emerge.”
The project will include on-site interviews and presentations to all of the stakeholders. The
resultant plan will serve as the step-by-step guide of how GIS is governed, implemented, and
distributed throughout the County.
