Software Creates AVL Applications Using ArcGIS® Server 9.3 Software
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Dayton, OH. - TDC Group, Inc. announces release of its Freeance™ AVL 2.0 for ArcGIS Server 9.3 software. Freeance AVL 2.0 allows organizations to rapidly create custom AVL applications for ArcGIS Server 9.3 using their existing GPS devices, wireless laptops or BlackBerry® smartphones.

Popular with public safety, public works, utility agencies and transportation firms, automated vehicle location or AVL is used for determining the geographic location of a vehicle and transmitting this information to a point where it can be used. Freeance AVL 2.0 delivers new value by allowing organizations to rapidly create AVL applications using their highly accurate and up-to-date GIS map layers served by ArcGIS Server 9.3 software.

Freeance AVL 2.0 is scheduled for release in August 2008. New features shipping in Freeance AVL 2.0 are listed below.

Trackers - A tracker is the basic way that Freeance keeps track of the location of vehicles. Trackers allow users such as dispatchers and managers to control whether or not to display a class of tracked items, display a list of the vehicles, and provide easy access to the vehicle chasing and vehicle path features of Freeance AVL 2.0.

Vehicle Paths - A vehicle path, or bread crumbs, shows the historical path of a vehicle over time. Users will be able to select the time period for which they want to see the historical path of the vehicle.

Geofencing - In Freeance AVL 2.0, geofencing shows whether a tracked vehicle is inside or outside of a geofenced area on a GIS map through changes in symbology.

Vehicle Chasing - Vehicle chasing allows users to zoom to a specified vehicle. Freeance AVL 2.0 will recenter a map when a vehicle moves toward the edge of a map. Vehicle chasing enables a user to keep track of a vehicle in real time by keeping the vehicle on screen at all times.

Reports - Reports are an easy way to find and export data from AVL databases to which Freeance AVL 2.0 connects. Reports are user definable and can be used to summarize information about tracked vehicles such as speed, distance traveled, average speed, and maximum speed.

Mouse Overs - Mouse overs display key data about the vehicle in an intuitive manner when a mouse pointer hovers over a vehicle. Information may be accessed from a database; both from the table that the tracker pulls information from, but also any related table using chained queries.
